Poetry about peace and mourning

Connie Braun will present parts of her newest work “Where I Live and Move and Have my Being” at the conference. The poems in this book  consider the relationship between peace and mourning. She was inspired by Ecclesiastes 7:4: “The heart of the wise is in the house of mourning”. Connie will read during the Arts Cafe at the 2nd GMP on Friday 28th of June.

In much of her writing Connie explores themes of displacement, belonging and identity. She is an author of the memoir: The Steppes are the Colour of Sepia (2008), and a collection of essays: Silentium: and other reflections on Memory, Sorrow, Place and the Sacred (2018), and two chapbooks of poetry: UnSpoken: an Inheritance of Words ( 2016) and Narrow Passageway (2018). She is a member of the League of Canadian poets, the Canadian Author’s Association, and has served on boards for the arts and writing. Connie is also a member of the community advisory committee for Peace and Conflict Studies at the University of the Fraser Valley. She writes and teaches in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
